Eric of Wood Designs by Eric comes from a family of
woodcrafters. His great-grandfather was a woodworker
who taught woodworking at Michigan State University.
Eric's grandfather followed as a woodworker. Both his
dad and his uncle became wood carvers. Many years of
experience and knowledge have been passed down the
line to Eric, who is keeping up the tradition as a woodworker.
A number of his items are copyrighted and may not be
duplicated without permission. He is a veteran and is
now a disabled veteran from United States Air Force.
Pamela joined him as his partner in 1996. She is
involved in the finishing and the marketing of their product
for retail and wholesale. After her first year with Eric, she
began an apprenticeship, training under Eric, as to scroll saw
work and use and safety of all of the machines.
Both Eric and Pamela are active members of the National Association
for the Self-Employed and the National Craft Association..
Through this organization, they are able to have up-to-date resources
for services, products, and are aware of current trends to better serve
their customers in the most cost-effective manner.
Wood Designs by Eric produces American-made and handcrafted, wooden
items of Red Oak or White Pine. Their product line ranges from children's
items to full-sized furniture items with home accessories in between.
All of their items are finely sanded. They are sold either finished or
unfinished. The unfinished items come ready for your personal touches.
The pine items are finished with one coat of Miniwax stain, usually
in the Early American color. The red, oak items are stained with
one coat of Minwax stain, Golden Pecan, and then sealed
with two coats of the Minwax polyurethane. All of the children's
items are finished with safe, non-toxic products only. As with any product,
misuse may result in injury.
